Trakia motorway closed for inspection after fatal truck crash

On 10 July a truck overturned on Bulgaria’s Trakia motorway, breaking the median and entering oncoming traffic. The collision with two cars left one person dead and two injured.

The Road Infrastructure Agency ordered a temporary two‑way closure of the highway from 13:30 to 14:30 to conduct a second forensic inspection. Police rerouted all traffic via the old road through Petolachkata‑Karnobat. The 56‑year‑old driver has been placed under house arrest while investigators examine whether technical failure, excessive speed or driver error caused the crash.
