United and Transavia announce new 2027 routes to the Azores
Major airlines are expanding their service to the Azores archipelago in 2027. United Airlines has announced a new route connecting Newark, New Jersey, to Terceira Island. Operating between June 9 and September 5, 2027, the service will feature three weekly flights using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. Regional officials state this connection will establish Terceira as a strategic hub for tourism and strengthen ties with the diaspora.
Simultaneously, Transavia, the low-cost subsidiary of Air France-KLM, will launch a new route between Ponta Delgada and Brussels in the summer of 2027. This expansion follows the airline's recent establishment of a local crew base at Brussels Airport. Transavia is also adding Heraklion and Thessaloniki to its Brussels network during the same period to meet growing demand for leisure travel in Europe and North Africa.
