Romania expands solar capacity and tightens energy market rules
The first shipment of photovoltaic panels – part of an estimated 800,000 units for four solar parks in Ișalnița, Tismana and Rovinari – arrived in Romania. The 550 MW projects, financed by more than €400 million (about 70 % from the Modernisation Fund), are slated to become operational by 2027.
At the HAEE Energy Transition Symposium, Paul Șerbănescu warned that Romania’s energy financing will move away from traditional grants toward multi‑year financial instruments, regional cooperation and mixed‑financing schemes.
