Transelectrica expands electrical grid to integrate renewable energy
Transelectrica, the state-majority owned national electricity transport company, has announced the expansion of its electrical line network. The company currently manages 9,000 kilometers of lines and aims to increase capacity to accommodate new production centers, particularly those utilizing renewable energy sources.
Key projects include the 400 kV Medgidia South-Constanța North line, designed to integrate renewable capacities from the Dobrogea region into the National Energy System. Additionally, the Timișoara/Săcălaz-Arad project (Stage III of the Banat Axis) will enhance energy exchange capacity at the borders of Romania, Hungary, and Serbia. These investments are intended to stabilize interconnections and reduce network congestion as energy production becomes more distributed.
