Transelectrica inaugurates 400 kV Reșița power substation in Romania
Transelectrica SA inaugurated a new 400 kV electricity transformation station in Reșița, Caraș‑Severin County on 26 May 2026. The project, costing 175.9 million lei and executed by Siemens Energy and local contractors, also modernised the existing 220/110 kV facility.
The substation is a key node on the Banat 400 kV corridor, linking Porțile de Fier, Reșița, Timișoara and Arad and enabling a 1 000 MW interconnection capacity with Serbia. It enhances the national grid’s capacity, safety and flexibility, supports integration of renewable generation and aligns Romania’s transmission network with European standards.
