Romania mountain rescues and accidents reported across multiple regions
Multiple rescue operations and accidents have been reported across various Romanian regions. In the Făgăraș Mountains, a 55-year-old man from Târgu Mureș died after accidentally falling approximately 200 meters into a ravine near Viștea Mare peak. Salvamont Argeș and a SMURD helicopter were deployed to recover the body, and police have opened a criminal investigation for manslaughter.
In the Bucegi Mountains, four tourists were rescued via SMURD helicopter after becoming lost and exhausted near Creasta Morarului. Meanwhile, on Măgura Uroiului, a 52-year-old woman was safely rescued after her paraglider became stuck on a rock; she was found conscious and required no further medical attention.
Other incidents include a person being rescued from the Mureș River near Aiud in cardiac arrest, and a father and 11-year-old daughter being saved from drowning in Eforie Nord after ignoring red flags and strong currents. Authorities continue to urge caution for tourists regarding weather and safety warnings.
