Winter conditions have arrived early on the Transfăgărășan mountain road in Romania. Following a sudden drop in temperature, heavy snowfall has blanketed the alpine area, with snow depths reaching approximately 10 centimeters at Bâlea Lac.

Road authorities, including DRDP Brașov, have deployed machinery and used over five tons of salt to clear the roadway and manage icy conditions. While the road remains open to traffic, authorities warn that driving conditions are characteristic of winter, particularly in high-altitude zones.

Drivers are strongly advised to check traffic conditions before traveling, ensure their vehicles are equipped with winter tires and necessary equipment like chains and shovels, and avoid travel if they are not prepared for winter driving. Similar weather shifts and snow have also been noted on the Transalpina route.
