TransMiCable de San Cristóbal reaches 94% completion in Bogotá

The TransMiCable de San Cristóbal system in Bogotá has reached 94% completion in its infrastructure works and has entered the operational readiness phase. Bogotá Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán announced that the system has successfully completed technical testing.

The new cable car line spans 2.87 kilometers and will serve three stations: 20 de Julio, La Victoria, and Senderos de Altamira. The system features 148 cabins, each capable of seating ten passengers, with accommodations for people with disabilities and users with folding bicycles.

Once operational, the corridor is expected to reduce travel times for over 400,000 residents from 40 minutes to just 10 minutes. Orlando Molano, director of the Instituto de Desarrollo Urbano (IDU), stated the network will move up to 4,000 passengers per hour in each direction, totaling approximately 34,000 daily users.

Sustainability features include the installation of 1,038 solar panels on terminal roofs and the planting of 77 native trees. Additionally, work continues on public spaces near the towers and the construction of a calisthenics gym near the La Victoria station.
