The 2.8-kilometer system is designed to transport 4,000 passengers per hour per direction, significantly reducing travel times for approximately 400,000 residents.

Detailed contract specifics confirm that the Bolivian state-owned company Mi Teleférico, as part of the consortium, won the international tender to operate and maintain the system. The contract, valued at approximately 390.8 billion Colombian pesos, will span 124 months. The scope includes passenger services, electromechanical maintenance, security, cleaning, and environmental management. Scheduled to begin operations in December 2026, the system will feature 144 cabins and three stations—Altamira, La Victoria, and 20 de Julio—aiming to reduce commutes from 45 minutes to 10 minutes.
