Transmicable operation awarded in San Cristóbal

Transmilenio S.A. has awarded the operation contract for the new Transmicable aerial cable system in the San Cristóbal district to the Promesa de Sociedad Futura Mi Cable San Cristóbal. The contract is valued at approximately 390,000 million pesos and carries a concession term of ten years and four months.

The winning consortium includes Empresa Operadora de Transportes Gran Américas S.A.S., the Bolivian state company Mi Teleférico, and Ingeniería, Tecnología y Conocimiento S.A.S. (Inteckno S.A.S.). This partnership combines national and international capital, leveraging the operational expertise of the La Paz urban cable car system.

The 2.8-kilometer system will feature 144 cabins and is designed to transport up to 4,000 passengers per hour per direction. It aims to benefit roughly 400,000 residents in the southeastern part of the city by reducing travel times between the upper sector and the main transit trunk from 45 minutes to 10 minutes. The project includes smart management systems and solar panels on cabins to enable self-generation of energy.
