Transnordestina railway drives economic activity in Ceará

The Transnordestina railway project is driving economic expectations in Ceará, Brazil. The section connecting southern Piauí to the Port of Pecém has reached 83% execution, with completion projected for late 2027.

An estimated R$ 15 billion total investment has been allocated to the 1,206-kilometer project, with R$ 11 billion already received. The infrastructure is stimulating private sector interest, including the planning or construction of approximately ten private terminals for commodities such as grains, limestone, gypsum, and fuels.

In Iguatu, the meatpacking company Masterboi has already committed to a R$ 200 million investment to establish a slaughterhouse, citing the railway's logistical advantages.
