Transport authorities seize vehicles in Valle de Juárez over unauthorized fare hikes

Authorities in the Valle de Juárez and Riberas del Bravo regions have intervened in local public transportation services following unauthorized fare hikes. The Subsecretaría de Transporte seized several vehicles from concessionaires Grupo Carrera and Star Soluciones en Transporte after they unilaterally increased passenger fares to 20 pesos, exceeding the authorized urban rate of 12 pesos.

Grupo Carrera faces significant fines for each seized unit, plus additional costs for towing and impound storage. Officials report that the company has not yet engaged in dialogue or settled outstanding penalties. Meanwhile, the company has cited high operating costs as the reason for the price adjustment.

To mitigate the impact on commuters, the state government has implemented a provisional solution in Riberas del Bravo, deploying two special units to maintain service. Local residents and community representatives are organizing to demand consistent service and prevent further excessive price increases.
