Border crossings blocked by transport drivers protesting B1 visa revocations
Cargo transport drivers are conducting blockades at several US-Mexico border crossings, including the Mexicali-Calexico and San Luis Río Colorado-Yuma commercial gates. The protests are in response to the mass revocation of B1 visas by US authorities, specifically ICE, targeting operators suspected of illegal cabotage.
Protesters are demanding individual case reviews and clear regulations regarding the transport of goods into the United States. While the Mexican consulate in Calexico has requested that affected drivers submit documentation to facilitate case-by-case negotiations, transport workers have stated they will maintain the blockades until an effective solution is reached. Estimates suggest hundreds of drivers in Baja California have been affected by these visa revocations over the last two months.
