Transport for Wales suspends Mid Wales rail services amid severe heat
Severe heat on Saturday, July 11, led Transport for Wales to cancel all rail services between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth, as well as between Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth. The suspension began at 02:39 and is expected to last the entire day, with trains in both directions halted.
Lloyds Coaches provided free replacement bus services (routes T2 and T28) between the affected towns, and passengers were advised to check the Transport for Wales website, stay hydrated, and plan alternative travel.
Other routes in the region continue to operate, though they may be crowded and warm. Travelers were urged to carry water and seek assistance if feeling unwell.
