Transport workers threaten strikes in Yucatán over unpaid debts

Transport workers from Quintana Roo have moved to Yucatán to seek work due to an economic crisis in the construction sector, only to face significant non-payment issues at the Country Lakes real estate development in Sierra Papacal.

Truck drivers and heavy machinery operators report that they have been working since May without receiving payment for their services. The affected parties have identified the developers and contractors Boma Desarrollos, Sabco, and Country Lakes, as well as Carlos and Gustavo García Silva, as the parties responsible for the outstanding debts.

The delinquency also impacts members of the National Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC) in Quintana Roo, who are owed substantial amounts for machinery rental and material transport. Workers are threatening strikes and demonstrations at the residential complex entrance to demand immediate settlement of the debts.
