TransUnion and Pennymac expand VantageScore 4.0 mortgage integration
TransUnion has launched ‘First Look Functionality’ for mortgage lenders, allowing them to review credit insights before purchasing scores during the loan origination process. This feature supports both soft- and hard-pull workflows and is compatible with GSE and FHA automated underwriting. Additionally, TransUnion has extended its 99-cent VantageScore 4.0 mortgage pricing through 2028, with no additional charge when pulled alongside a FICO Score.
In a related development, Pennymac has rolled out VantageScore 4.0 across its consumer-direct, broker, and correspondent businesses. The integration follows a decision by the Federal Housing Finance Agency to allow approved GSE lenders to use either VantageScore 4.0 or Classic FICO on eligible loans. Pennymac’s implementation aims to modernize credit scoring to potentially lower costs and support homeownership.
Other major lenders are also adopting the model. Rocket Mortgage has indicated plans to make VantageScore 4.0 its preferred model for eligible retail loans, while United Wholesale Mortgage provides brokers access to both VantageScore and Classic FICO models.
