Traton and Scania report record orders amid electric truck drive

The Traton truck group recorded a 30 % increase in H1 2026 orders, reaching 181,900 units. Growth was led by North America, where orders jumped 141 %, and Asia‑Pacific, up 63 %, while Europe saw only a 10 % rise. Much of the U.S. surge reflects pre‑purchase activity ahead of stricter EPA emissions limits scheduled for 2027, a pattern that historically creates a later demand gap. Electrified trucks remain a small share, with 887 of the 151,500 deliveries being battery‑electric.

Scania highlighted a strong quarter for its battery‑electric programme, launching its Megawatt Charging System and a new under‑cab battery module to extend range. The company secured a landmark agreement with Nordic logistics firm Wibax to deliver 105 battery‑electric trucks, one of the largest EU electric‑truck orders to date. Scania also announced a major investment in its Angers, France plant to expand battery‑electric production capacity, reinforcing its push to meet growing demand across Europe and other key markets.
