Bavarian mountain fire declared disaster as hundreds of crews battle blaze

Further north in Saarland, more than 150 firefighters tackled a series of vegetation fires along a railway line, leading to a temporary suspension of train traffic and causing a widespread Vodafone network outage. Smaller incidents were reported elsewhere, including a grass fire in Hünxe that caused no damage and was extinguished within half an hour, and a 500‑square‑metre forest fire in Osttirol that was fought by 170 firefighters and four helicopters.
