Treinta y Tres suspends Independence Day events due to flooding
The government of Treinta y Tres, Uruguay, has suspended the traditional Independence Day celebrations, including the civic-military parade and gaucho cavalry procession, due to an emergency caused by the rising Olimar River.
Authorities stated that the decision prioritizes resources and institutional efforts toward assisting families displaced by the flooding and addressing damage to departmental infrastructure. Instead of the large-scale festivities, a simplified ceremony involving the placement of a floral offering will be held at Plaza 19 de Abril to commemorate the date.
