Tren de Aragua gang faces arrests in Spain and Colombia

Spanish law‑enforcement agencies arrested five suspects linked to the Venezuelan criminal group Tren de Aragua after a series of violent home‑invasions targeting wealthy homes in Madrid, Tenerife, Ibiza and Orense. The suspects were accused of armed burglary, drug trafficking and possession of illegal weapons; authorities seized more than €100,000 in luxury watches and jewellery, €10,000 in cash, cocaine, MDMA and other contraband, and confiscated firearms and false licence plates. Four of the five detainees remain in custody while investigations continue.

In Bogotá, Colombian police reported that 3,414 people were detained in July‑long operations aimed at dismantling extortion and drug networks. Among those arrested was a 40‑year‑old man known as “Maracucho”, identified as a suspected leader of the Tren de Aragua cell operating in the city, along with six additional alleged members. The crackdown also disrupted other criminal structures involved in drug trafficking, extortion of merchants and sexual exploitation.

Both actions represent coordinated efforts by European and South American authorities to curb the transnational activities of the Tren de Aragua organization.
