Tren Patagónico repairs infrastructure after derailment
Tren Patagónico is conducting repairs on railway infrastructure following a derailment near the Sierra Colorada station on October 13. The incident, which affected a passenger service traveling between Viedma and San Carlos de Bariloche, was caused by an embankment collapse triggered by heavy rainfall. The locomotive derailed and shifted to the side, causing damage to several meters of track.
As a result of the damage, passenger services on the Viedma–San Carlos de Bariloche route, including return trips, have been suspended for October 16, 18, 23, and 25. Crews are working to re-rail the locomotive and an affected freight car while restoring the tracks to ensure safe circulation. The service is a provincial company supported by the Government of Río Negro.
