Trendhaus carrot toy recalled due to asbestos contamination
The Italian Ministry of Health and the Municipality of Matera have issued an alert regarding a children's toy containing sand contaminated with tremolite, a form of asbestos. The product is classified as a serious risk under the European Safety Gate system.
The item is an orange, elastic carrot-shaped toy, approximately 17 centimeters long. Specific identification details include the brand Trendhaus, model 967176, lot 2025 = CH33287, and barcode 4032722967176. The toy may have been sold in Italy through various channels, including online platforms, and could be present in homes, schools, or nurseries.
Authorities advise consumers to immediately stop using the toy and keep it away from children. Users are instructed not to open, cut, puncture, or empty the toy, and it must not be disposed of in regular household waste or recycling bins. If the toy breaks and the sand is released, individuals should not sweep or vacuum the area; instead, they should clear people from the vicinity and contact their local health authority (ASL) for safe intervention.
