Trendhaus carrot toy recalled due to asbestos contamination
The Italian Ministry of Health has issued an urgent alert regarding a Trendhaus brand elastic toy shaped like an orange carrot. The product, which is approximately 17 centimeters long, contains sand contaminated with tremolite, a hazardous form of asbestos. The risk is classified as 'Serious' under the European Safety Gate system because the toy can break, potentially releasing the contaminated material for inhalation.
Approximately 30,024 pieces are subject to the recall. The product is identified by model number 967176, lot number 2025 = CH33287, and barcode 4032722967176. While the country of origin is China, the product has been distributed in Italy, potentially through online marketplaces, as specific Italian distributors have not been identified.
Authorities are urging families, schools, nurseries, and childcare centers to immediately stop using the toy if it is in their possession. Users are advised not to open, cut, or manipulate the toy. If the toy is broken and sand has spilled, individuals must not sweep or vacuum the area to avoid dispersing the fibers; instead, they should contact local health authorities (ASL/ATS) for proper disposal instructions.
