Trenton shooting leaves 2 dead and 8 injured at unauthorized block party
A shooting at an unauthorized block party in the Wilbur section of Trenton, New Jersey, left two people dead and eight others injured early Sunday morning. The incident occurred around 12:25 a.m. on the 100 block of Locust Street.
According to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, the deceased have been identified as a 33-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man. Eight additional victims, ranging in age from 23 to 43, were treated and stabilized at Capital Health Regional Medical Center. Investigators reported that multiple suspects approached the crowd and opened fire, leaving more than 50 spent shell casings at the scene.
Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora described the event as a large-scale, unauthorized gathering of approximately 100 to 200 people. In response to the violence, city officials stated they are reviewing ways to identify large gatherings earlier, improve police coordination, and enforce laws regarding unauthorized residential street occupations to prevent future public safety risks.
