Violence at Trenton block party

Overview

A shooting occurred during an unauthorized block party in the Wilbur section of Trenton, New Jersey. Early Sunday morning, multiple suspects opened fire on a crowd of approximately 100 to 200 people on the 100 block of Locust Street.

The incident resulted in the deaths of a 33-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man, while eight others, aged 23 to 43, were injured and treated at a local medical center. Investigators recovered more than 50 spent shell casings at the scene.

In response to the violence, city officials indicated they are reviewing methods to identify large gatherings more quickly, improve police coordination, and enforce laws regarding unauthorized residential street occupations to mitigate public safety risks.
