Treviso to host Tiramisu World Championship
The city of Treviso, located north of Venice, will host the tenth Tiramisu World Championship on October 9 and 10. Approximately 600 participants from around the world are expected to compete, with 320 different Tiramisu creations scheduled for tasting and evaluation. The competition will feature both classic recipes and creative variations, leading to semi-finals and a final on October 11 judged by gastronomy professionals.
Organizers are currently seeking 130 hobby jurors, including applicants from Austria. Online applications open on September 12. To qualify, applicants must be of legal age and pass a 15-question online test regarding the history of Tiramisu, competition rules, and the gastronomic traditions of the Treviso region.
Treviso has long sought formal recognition of Tiramisu as a guaranteed traditional specialty of the area. The dessert is believed to have originated in Treviso, with the name first appearing in 1970 at the restaurant Le Beccherie, credited to owner Ada Campeol and chef Roberto Linguanotto.
