Tiramisù World Cup competition preparations

Overview

The Tiramisù World Cup is preparing for its 10th-anniversary competition in Treviso, Italy, scheduled for October 9–11. Organizers are seeking 130 amateur judges to evaluate 320 recipes across original and creative categories. To join the public jury, applicants must participate in a ‘click day’ on September 12 and pass an online quiz covering competition rules, the history of the dessert, and the culinary traditions of the Treviso region. Candidates must achieve a perfect score of 15/15, with up to three attempts permitted. Selection results are expected to be communicated via email by September 25.

Founder Francesco Redi stated that the number of judging positions was increased to accommodate more participants. Redi also noted that over the last decade, culinary trends have moved toward “lighter, less fatty recipes,” though maintaining flavor balance remains a priority.

Following the application period, 130 tasters have successfully passed the qualifying tests to serve as judges. These judges will evaluate entries based on ingredient quality, the balance of flavors and textures, and adherence to traditional methods. A key component of the assessment will be the contestants' ability to introduce innovative ideas while maintaining the dessert’s original identity.

Approximately 600 participants from around the world are expected to compete. The event will progress through semi-finals to a final on October 11, which will be judged by gastronomy professionals. The competition takes place in Treviso, a city that has long sought formal recognition of Tiramisù as a guaranteed traditional specialty of the area. The dessert is believed to have originated in Treviso, with the name first appearing in 1970 at the restaurant Le Beccherie, credited to owner Ada Campeol and chef Roberto Linguanotto.
