Târgu Jiu hosts Brâncuși photography exhibition and international conference
Târgu Jiu is hosting the international conference ‘Philosophy of Form’ and the exhibition ‘Brâncuși. Photography: The Invisible Studio’ from October 22 to 26. Held under the patronage of UNESCO, the conference commemorates the 150th anniversary of the birth of sculptor Constantin Brâncuși, bringing together researchers, art historians, and diplomats to discuss his legacy.
The exhibition, held at the Art 360 Pavilion, features 33 rare original photographs taken by Brâncuși from the David Grob collection in London. These images include early photographs of the ‘Endless Column’, the ‘Gate of the Kiss’, and the ‘Table of Silence’.
Additionally, a camera used by Brâncuși while working on his monumental ensembles in Târgu Jiu is being displayed. The device is part of the heritage of the Gorj County Museum of History and was previously owned by stone carver Ion Alexandrescu.
