Târgu Jiu hosts rare Constantin Brâncuși photography exhibition
As part of the Brâncuși Year celebrating the 150th anniversary of the sculptor's birth, the city of Târgu Jiu is hosting a rare photography exhibition titled ‘Brâncuși. Photography. The Invisible Studio’. Opening on October 22, 2026, at Pavilion Art 360, the exhibition features 33 rare photographs from the David Grob collection.
The collection includes self-portraits, images of sculptures, studio scenes, and still lifes. Notable items include the first images of the ‘Endless Column’ installed at Voulangis, as well as photographs taken by Brâncuși in Târgu Jiu between 1937 and 1938. The exhibition will run until December 16, 2026.
The opening ceremony coincides with the ‘Philosophy of Form’ International Conference, held under UNESCO patronage, which brings together global specialists in Brâncuși's work. The exhibition is curated by art historian Eduard Enache, with scientific consultant Dr. Doina Lemny. British collector David Grob is expected to attend the opening.
