Trikala regional development initiative targets 20 million euro investment

The Regional Governor of Thessaly, Dimitris Kouretas, has initiated a meeting to develop a proposal for a new Integrated Territorial Investment (ITI) for Trikala, covering the 2028–2034 programming period. The initiative, titled ‘Mountainous Trikala 365’, aims to provide developmental content and financial backing for projects that could exceed 20 million euros.

The plan seeks to create a unified, year-round destination by connecting the mountainous terrain with the city of Trikala, Meteora, Pyli, and Farkaodona. Key objectives include enhancing regional resilience and tourism through the networking and maintenance of hiking trails and other targeted interventions in the mountainous areas.

The meeting included local MPs, regional vice-governors, mayors from Meteora, Pyli, and Farkaodona, and representatives from the Chamber of Trikala.
