Trinamool Congress loses committee chairs and faces Supreme Court setback

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) is facing significant institutional challenges following internal splits and legal disputes. In a recent reorganization of parliamentary standing committees by the Rajya Sabha Chairman and Lok Sabha Speaker, the TMC lost the chairmanship of two major committees. Sudhanshu Trivedi of the BJP has been appointed as the new chairman of the Commerce Committee, replacing TMC's Dola Sen. Additionally, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, representing a breakaway faction, has been appointed as the chair of the Chemicals and Fertilizers Committee.

Simultaneously, the Supreme Court of India has denied relief to Mamata Banerjee regarding the operation of four party bank accounts. These accounts were frozen by West Bengal police following a cybercrime complaint. The court declined to intervene, noting that the Calcutta High Court is currently determining the rightful owner of the funds amidst a dispute between two factions claiming to be the authentic Trinamool Congress. The Election Commission has also frozen the party's symbol while the ownership dispute is resolved.
