The faction led by Mamata Banerjee has been assigned the name ‘Mamata All India Trinamool Congress’ and the ‘Football Player’ symbol. The rival faction, led by Ritabrata Banerjee and Arup Roy, has been allotted the name ‘Democratic Trinamool Congress’ and the ‘Envelope’ symbol.

Mamata Banerjee has challenged the commission's decision in the Supreme Court, describing the freeze of the party's identity as a ‘black day’ for democracy. She has named both the Election Commission and Ritabrata Banerjee as respondents in her petition, seeking to reclaim the original party name and symbol. The commission stated that a substantive determination under the Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968, is required to resolve the dispute permanently.
