Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados brace for tropical wave showers and flood risk

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service warned that Tropical Wave 19 is moving across the islands, bringing additional showers, thunderstorms, and wind gusts over 50 km/h. The agency highlighted increased flood and landslide risks, especially in saturated low‑lying and elevated areas, after Tropical Wave 18 already caused heavy rain and a brief voltage dip in the electricity grid.

In Barbados, the national weather service forecast sunny conditions with scattered light to moderate showers as the same tropical wave continues to affect the island. A dust haze is expected, fresh easterly breezes of 30‑45 km/h will prevail, and sea conditions will be moderate to rough, prompting a Small Craft advisory.

Both islands are advised to take precautions against flooding, landslides, dust‑related air‑quality impacts, and hazardous marine conditions.
