Trinity Rodman balances soccer match and Ben Shelton’s U.S. Open final

Professional soccer player Trinity Rodman, an Olympic gold medalist and forward for the Washington Spirit, balanced professional obligations with supporting her partner, tennis player Ben Shelton, during the U.S. Open.

On a Sunday in September 2026, Rodman played in a key National Women’s Soccer League match for the Spirit against Boston Legacy FC in Washington, D.C. Following her game, she attempted to travel to New York City to witness Shelton’s first career major final against Alexander Zverev.

Shelton ultimately lost the U.S. Open final to Zverev in four sets, with scores of 6–3, 7–6(2), 5–7, 6–2. Rodman, the daughter of former NBA player Dennis Rodman, has established her own career in professional soccer and represents the U.S. women’s national team.
