Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announces new Ayurvedic college and emphasizes Yoga Day

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha highlighted the health benefits of yoga while marking the 12th International Yoga Day on June 22. Speaking at the state‑level ceremony in Agartala, he said yoga improves immunity, reduces fatigue and supports healthy aging, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s global promotion of the practice.

Saha also announced that the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine has approved the establishment of the Tripura Government Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital in Udaipur, Gomati district. The college will offer 60 Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) seats starting in the 2026‑27 academic session, a move he credited to the support of the central government and Prime Minister Modi.
