Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha Says Farmers' Income Has Doubled

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced that the state has achieved its goal of doubling farmers' earnings, with average monthly income rising from about 6,000 rupees in 2015‑16 to more than 13,000 rupees now. He attributed the increase to continuous policy measures, agricultural reforms and the nationwide "Khet Bachao" (Save the Farm) campaign, which stresses soil health and sustainable practices.

Saha emphasized that the government will protect cultivable land from non‑agricultural uses and balance industrial development with agricultural needs. He warned against excessive use of chemical fertilizers such as urea and DAP, urging farmers to adopt balanced nutrient management and eco‑friendly techniques. The chief minister linked these efforts to broader food‑security and livelihood goals for India’s large rural population.
