Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha urges students to prioritize character over grades
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha addressed a felicitation ceremony in Agartala for students who passed the Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations. He said that academic success matters only if students are good human beings first and urged them to work for society.
Saha criticised the previous CPI(M) government, alleging it created a disturbed environment that hampered education, and claimed conditions improved after the central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office. He highlighted recent expansions in the state’s higher‑education infrastructure, including new seats in dental and MBBS programmes and upcoming Ayurvedic, Homeopathy and pharmacy colleges, reducing the need for students to study outside Tripura.
The chief minister also warned of drug addiction among youth and called for honesty, social service and national pride as guiding values for young people.
