Tripura CM lays foundation for medical college in Ambassa

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha laid the foundation stone for the HP Ghosh Memorial Medical College in the Lalchhari area of Ambassa, located in the Dhalai district. The 100-bed medical college will be developed by the Bandhan Group on approximately 20 acres of land.

The project aims to fulfill a commitment to establish medical facilities within the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) area. Chief Minister Saha noted that the institution is expected to improve socio-economic conditions in the region and create approximately 5,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities. He added that residents of both Tripura and adjoining Assam would benefit from the new services.

This development is part of a broader effort to strengthen the state's health infrastructure. According to Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, 37 medical institutions have been established in the state over the last four years. Additionally, the government plans to launch an Ayurvedic college in Tepania, Udaipur, and a homeopathic college in the upcoming academic session, with long-term goals to establish a dedicated health university.
