Tripura CM announces DA hike and major recruitment drives
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has announced several major administrative and welfare measures following the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) securing over 90% of seats in the Village Committee elections. Saha characterized the electoral results as a rejection of the CPI(M) and Congress ideologies and a mandate for his vision of a ‘New Tripura’.
In terms of employee welfare, the state government has approved a 3% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners, bringing the total to 44%. Additionally, the House Rent Allowance (HRA) will increase to 10% of basic pay, capped at Rs 10,000 per month. These changes, effective October 1, are expected to cost approximately Rs 300 crore annually.
The Tripura Cabinet also approved significant recruitment drives, including 1,061 teacher positions and 213 vacancies within the Agartala Municipal Corporation. To ensure transparency, the state will establish a Staff Selection Commission for Group-B, C, and D posts. Furthermore, the government will provide free ration supplies, including sugar, maida, and suji, to approximately 9.92 lakh families for the upcoming Sharadotsav festival.
