Tripura CM Manik Saha launches Rs 8.9 crore projects and moves to appoint medical university vice‑chancellor

On July 31, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha inaugurated development projects worth Rs 8.9 crore in Khowai district. The initiatives target road connectivity, drinking water, electricity, agriculture, rural and urban development, information technology and social security. The ceremony also included the distribution of eight smart OPD kits and the launch of a subsidised mortuary‑vehicle service, costing Rs 1,000 per trip and Rs 500 for families under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana.

Saha later announced that a vice‑chancellor will soon be appointed for a proposed Tripura medical university, which will bring together the state's three medical colleges, an Ayurvedic college and a planned homoeopathic college. He highlighted a telemedicine link with AIIMS New Delhi, a statewide non‑communicable disease screening programme (Mukhyamantri Niramay Arogya Abhiyan), and the Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura’s goal of making the state hepatitis‑free within four years.
