Tripura officials seek action over alleged racial abuse in Delhi

The Tripura Students Forum Delhi (TSFD) has filed a formal complaint with the Delhi Police seeking an investigation into an alleged incident involving racial harassment, sexual assault, and public humiliation of a young man from Tripura. The complaint follows the circulation of an Instagram video purportedly featuring content creator Amir Shokeen using racial slurs, such as “Chinki” and “Chiness,” and making derogatory remarks about the state of Tripura.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has directed the state Director General of Police to coordinate with Delhi authorities regarding the matter. The incident has drawn condemnation from various political parties in Tripura, including the CPI (M), Congress, and Tipra Motha Party. Additionally, student organizations in Agartala have lodged local police complaints. While the controversy has escalated, the accused individual, Shokeen, has reportedly issued an apology via Facebook following the social media backlash.
