Tripura CM Manik Saha Lauds Panchayat Achievements, Seeks Central Help for Highway Repairs
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said about 80% of the state’s panchayats rank among the top performers nationwide and presented 51 awards covering health, women‑friendly governance and e‑governance, with Sepahijala district named the best district and Bijaynagar Gram Panchayat receiving a consecutive national e‑Governance award. He emphasized the role of village development in reaching the nation’s 2047 goals and highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s support for self‑reliant panchayats.
The CM also raised concerns over the deteriorating condition of major national highways – NH‑08, NH‑208 and NH‑108B – which hinder travel, especially during the monsoon season. He wrote to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari requesting an immediate NHIDCL inspection and regular oversight to restore road connectivity, noting ongoing correspondence with senior officials and the state’s monitoring of Smart City projects in Agartala.
