Tripura prepares for TTAADC Village Committee elections amid security and boycott threats

Preparations are intensifying for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) Village Committee elections scheduled for September 28. In West Tripura, District Magistrate and Collector Vishal Kumar inspected the Strong Room at Mandwi to review security protocols and the safety of election materials.

To ensure a peaceful process, the administration has deployed paramilitary personnel, Tripura State Rifles (TSR), and state police. Officials noted that the election is being held after several years and is expected to see high candidate participation.

However, residents of Rabidhan Para in Fatikroy have threatened to boycott the polls. The villagers cited long-standing grievances, including a lack of electricity for several months, deplorable road conditions, and the absence of a local school. Residents stated they would only participate if basic civic issues, specifically electricity, are resolved before the election date.
