Tripura security forces seize 1.2 million Yaba tablets worth Rs 98 crore
Security forces in Tripura have conducted major operations resulting in the seizure of over 1.2 million Yaba tablets. A joint effort involving the Assam Rifles, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), and local police led to the recovery of 1,226,000 Yaba tablets valued at approximately Rs 98.08 crore across the Khowai and North Tripura districts.
In the Khowai district, 726,000 tablets worth Rs 58.08 crore were seized, leading to the arrest of an individual from Assam. A second operation in Panisagar recovered 500,000 tablets valued at Rs 40 crore, resulting in the arrest of another individual from Assam and the seizure of a truck.
In a separate ongoing effort in the Sepahijala district, Tripura Police and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel reported seizing 1,790.2 kg of ganja and 5,660 Yaba tablets this year. Other contraband seized during various operations in the district included cattle, cough syrup, brown sugar, and various food items. Authorities have directed increased joint patrolling and surveillance along the international border to prevent further smuggling.
