Triumph expands 400cc range with new Bonneville T40 models

Triumph has announced the expansion of its 400cc motorcycle lineup with the introduction of the Bonneville T40 and the T40 Black. These new models, which maintain the classic Bonneville aesthetic with teardrop tanks and round headlights, are scheduled to reach dealers in the spring of 2027.

Both versions are powered by a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder TR Series 400cc engine specifically tuned for low-end torque, delivering 32 hp and 36 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. The motorcycles are designed to be compatible with the A2 license.

Despite their smaller displacement, the models feature advanced electronics, including cruise control, cornering ABS, and traction control. Riders can choose from five riding modes—Road, Rain, Eco, and two customizable settings—via a 4-inch color TFT display. The display also offers a ‘Heritage’ mode that mimics the appearance of analog instruments. Navigation capabilities are provided through the Triumph Navigation App.
