TÜRK-İŞ reports rising hunger and poverty limits in August

TÜRK-İŞ has released its August 2026 research regarding the hunger and poverty limits for households in Ankara, Turkey. The data shows a continued rise in the cost of living for a four-person family.

The hunger limit, defined as the minimum monthly expenditure required for a four-person family to maintain a healthy and balanced diet, rose to 37,388.30 TL. This represents a 1.21% increase from the previous month.

The poverty limit, which includes essential non-food expenses such as housing, rent, electricity, water, fuel, transportation, education, and health, reached 121,786 TL. This is an increase from the July figure of 120,325 TL.

Additionally, the monthly cost of living for a single worker was calculated at 48,305.38 TL. Regarding food inflation, the 12-month change rate was recorded at 37.90%, while the annual average increase stood at 40.33%.
