Türkiye launches youth delegate program for COP31
In preparation for the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31) to be hosted by Türkiye in Antalya, the Ministry of National Education has launched a national initiative to involve youth in the climate agenda.
The “81 Young Delegates from 81 Provinces” project aims to select one primary and two substitute delegates from secondary school students in every province. These delegates will develop specific reports based on the geographical, environmental, and social characteristics of their respective regions, focusing on sustainable living and local climate challenges.
Simultaneously, the Ministry is conducting National Youth Climate Workshops across 30 provinces. In Konya, for example, 70 students from 14 high schools participated in a workshop centered on “Agriculture, Food Systems, and Climate Change.” The findings and solution proposals from these regional workshops will be consolidated into a national report to be presented at COP31, ensuring that the perspectives of Turkish youth are represented on an international stage.
