Tropea Named Fairy‑Tale Destination in European Best Destinations List

European Best Destinations, in partnership with SiViaggia, released a ranking of 17 European sites described as "fairy‑tale" destinations. The Italian town of Tropea earned a place thanks to the Santuario di Santa Maria dell’Isola, a sanctuary perched on a limestone cliff overlooking the Costa degli Dei.

Tropea is one of only two Italian locations on the list, the other being the Sacred Forest of Bomarzo in Lazio. Mayor Giovanni Macrì highlighted that the designation recognises the narrative appeal of the site, noting its capacity to inspire families, children and travellers seeking wonder and emotional connection. Forbes also cited the sanctuary as an iconic symbol of Calabria within the ranking.
