Tropical Depression Six E Stays Offshore as Gulf Depression Two May Become Storm Bertha

The Mexican meteorological service confirmed that Tropical Depression Six E in the eastern Pacific remains far from the Mexican coastline, with winds of about 55 km/h and no watches or alerts issued for coastal areas. At the same time, Tropical Storm Elida is weakening and is not expected to pose a threat.

In the Gulf of Mexico, forecasters expect Depression Two to intensify into a tropical storm, likely named Bertha, within the next few days. Models show the system could bring heavy rain, storm‑strength winds and possible coastal flooding along the northern Gulf coast, from the Florida Panhandle through parts of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and potentially Texas. Authorities have issued a tropical storm watch for parts of the Florida Panhandle and are monitoring the situation for further advisories.
