A tropical depression is moving across the East Vietnam Sea and is expected to make landfall in the coastal areas of Quang Tri and Ha Tinh by September 14. The system maintains maximum sustained winds of level 6 (39-49 km/h) with gusts reaching level 8.

The depression is triggering widespread heavy rainfall across Central and Northern Vietnam. In Quang Tri, rainfall in some areas has already exceeded 480mm. This has led to significant flooding, with 59 households in Lao Bao commune being relocated to safety. In the mountainous southwest of Quang Tri, rising river levels have submerged several bridges and roads, causing local transport isolation. Additionally, two barges belonging to QT Nguyen Hoang Construction Materials Exploitation Company were swept away and became stuck at the My Chanh railway bridge on the O Lau River due to fast-flowing floodwaters.

Meteorological forecasts indicate that heavy rain will continue through September 15, with some regions from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri potentially receiving over 500mm of rain. Authorities have warned of risks including flash floods, landslides, and dangerous sea conditions with waves reaching 2-4 meters in affected coastal areas.
